About us:
Who We Are
- Great Plains AMBUCS is a nonprofit service organization based in Southwest Oklahoma, dedicated to creating mobility and independence for people with disabilities. As part of the national AMBUCS network, our chapter brings together volunteers, community partners, and local businesses to make a direct, life-changing impact right here in the Great Plains region.
Our Mission
- Inspiring mobility and independence through community service.
- We work year-round to provide Amtryke therapeutic tricycles, award scholarships to future therapists, and support accessibility projects that strengthen our community.
What We Do
- Provide Amtrykes — Custom-built therapeutic tricycles for children and adults who cannot ride a traditional bike.
- Support Local Families — We work closely with parents, therapists, and schools to ensure every rider gets the right fit and the right support.
- Fund Scholarships — We help train the next generation of physical, occupational, and speech therapists.
- Serve Our Community — From ramps to fundraisers, we roll up our sleeves and get involved wherever mobility and independence can be improved.
Our Community Impact
- Great Plains AMBUCS is deeply rooted in Lawton, Faxon, and the surrounding region. Through events like the Red River Craft Beer Festival, Bags for Cash, Fly a Flag, and our annual Amtryke giveaways, we raise funds that stay right here in our community — supporting local families, local riders, and local needs.
Why We Serve
- Mobility is more than movement — it’s confidence, freedom, and opportunity. Every Amtryke we give, every ramp we build, and every scholarship we award is a step toward a more inclusive and empowered community.
Join Us
- Whether you want to volunteer, sponsor an event, donate, or simply learn more, we’d love to welcome you. Great Plains AMBUCS is always looking for people who believe in service, community, and making a difference.
